In early 2014, Dr. Carmine Simone, Chief of Surgeon at the understood the importance of patient engagement and was actively looking to improve patient care within his organization.  Despite being a Level 1 Centre of Excellence for Thoracic Surgery, Dr. Simone found his patients facing difficulties adhering to instructions and staying engaged in the process between visits. He also found that patients were overwhelmed with all the instructions they had to remember preparing for major cancer surgery and recovering afterwords.

It was around this time when Dr. Simone partnered up with °µÍøÊÓÆµ to implement a custom patient engagement solution for Toronto East General Hospital (TEGH).
